artist statement:

I chose to draw two crystals, a glass bottle, and a necklace dangling. I've never really drawn realistically or still life before, so I decided to challenge myself a bit, as well as draw things I really like. I think the background could be shaded much better, and I could also add some darker values. My favorite thing about the drawing is the halo effect the crystals have, and how realistic the top of the glass bottle looks.

For this drawing, I decided against drawing realistically. It's abstract, and doesn't necessarily make sense, some squares are shaded to look realistic and others just have designs on them. I think i could've spent more time on this drawing, and shaded more. I like it for what it is though

this drawing was inspired by a modern depiction of a Japanese city. I decided to draw a picture that depicted ancient and modern japan at the same time. Most of the drawing is tall buildings & infrastructure, but has ancient touches, like the cherry blossom tree. I plan to add much more shading & contrast, as well as more 'ancient japan' touches.

paradise

For the charcoal drawing, I wanted to draw something I really liked. so, I chose to draw my favorite type of tree and the symbol most associated with paradise. it's not completely finished, but my favorite things about the drawing are the way the leaves turned out, as well as the small sun/lightsource in the background. This drawing should have more background, sunlight and more palm leaves.
